SCHLAPP: "Quite frankly, the Democrats wasted unnecessary time on this Schumer shutdown. That could have been a moment to be continuing the negotiations. Obviously what we know is that this Durbin/Flake/Graham bill is not acceptable for this administration. What their bill presents is more of the same, which is increase illegal immigration, it is not ending chain migration, it isn’t even closing the loopholes, just basic things that we need to ensure there is real and responsible immigration reform. So the President is confident that he can work together with the Democrats and Republicans. The Democrats need to come to the table and make sure that we can get this moving so we don’t end up in the same situation that the Democrats put us in, which was holding our military hostage as well as the children, as we know, the vulnerable children that were on the CHIP program."
