Marc Short: ‘Senate Democrats Are Determined to Shut Down the Government’

‘It’s unfortunate because a few years ago Nancy Pelosi talked about people who wanted to shut down the government over policy concerns arsonists’

EXCERPT:

SHORT: "Unfortunately it appears that Senate Democrats are pretty determined to shut down the government. It’s very unfortunate because just a few years ago Nancy Pelosi talked about people who wanted to shut down the government over policy concerns 'arsonists.' Chuck Schumer said they’re hostage takers. And yet it seems that’s the position they’ve adopted now in their effort to shut down the government. It’s incrfedibly frustrating for many Americans. There is a normal appropriations process that should work. We submitted a budget to Congress last February. We’re now in mid-January without a spending bill. And to Chuck Schumer’s comments a few minutes when he says there needs to be a normal budget process, keep in mind we need 10 Senate Democrats just to move to proceed to the appropriations bill. They’ve denied that so far. So the reality is that those 10 votes we need to get to 60 is what is basically bringing the government to a shutdown and stopping funding of our troops."
