THORNBERRY: "There is agreement that we need to do better for our military, that we need to increase military spending. The problem is you’ve got some people who will only agree to that if they get their way on some other issue like immigration, DACA, or funding for EPA or something else. So if we could just vote on the merits of this issue, the military would be taken care of and then we could debate the other issue. But unfortunately the military is being held hostage to these other political issues. And that’s the reason I’m frustrated and that’s the reason all the people you just mentioned in that meeting are concerned. Whether we can actually implement a strategy that we come up with."
