Jackie Speier: I Don’t Anticipate that Trump Will Be Successful in Asserting Executive Privilege

‘You could only assert executive privilege if it’s national security or the privacy is important to protect the public interest’

RUSH EXCERPT:

SPEIER: "Well, I think there’s a question that is being discussed right now as to whether or not there will be an assertion of executive privilege. And I think that that will be determined in the near term. I will say though to you, Chris, that whenever a president has asserted executive privilege, more often than not when it goes to court, they fail in that. So I don’t anticipate that the president’s going to be successful. You could only assert executive privilege if it’s national security or the privacy is important to protect the public interest. And that’s just the reverse of what we’re trying to make available to the public right now."
