Fox Guest Slams Fox & Friends for Rice Comments: ‘How Do Those Words Come Out of Your Mouth?’ (Mediaite)

USA Today sports columnist Christine Brennan appeared on MediaBuzz Sunday morning and used a question from host Howard Kurtz about the media’s treatment of the Ray Rice affair to criticize the hosts of Fox & Friends for their domestic violence comedy routine earlier this week.

Kurtz asked whether some media personalities were treating the assault as entertainment.

“Well, we’re here,” Brennan said, referring to Fox studios. “Fox & Friends, the other day, the banter about well this proves you should take the stairs.”

“That was an unfortunate misstep, and I was glad they came back the next day and said, ‘We didn’t mean to give the impression we take this lightly,’” Kurtz said, referring to all thirteen seconds the hosts devoted to it the next day.

“But boy, they did,” Brennan said. “How do those words come out of your mouth, after you’ve seen the video?”
