ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith: Stop Condemning Goodell Until You Have Proof He Lied

‘I don’t know if we can engage in the level of condemnation that calls for his job’

Stephen A. Smith: Stop Condemning Goodell Until You Have Proof He Lied (Mediaite)

ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith joined Jake Tappertoday to tell people bashing NFL CommissionerRoger Goodell to stop calling for his resignation until there is any proof whatsoever that Goodell was involved in a cover-up with the Ray Ricevideo. Smith had previously called NOW PresidentTerry O’Neil “off her rocker” for calling for Goodell to resign.

Smith said that the NFL’s handling of the situation is incredibly troublesome and it would be unacceptable if Goodell “swept it under the rug,” but said there’s no proof yet. And until there is, Goodell doesn’t deserve to be condemned.

Tapper brought up the AP report from yesterday saying that the NFL did receive a copy of the tape. Smith admitted it’s hard to believe someone at the NFL didn’t know about it, but “‘hard to believe’ is not factual evidence to say that the commissioner lied and therefore he should be dismissed.”
