WaPo’s DeBonis: No Suggestion What Joe Barton Did Was Abusive or Could Be Considered Harassment

‘I think this is more of an example of where you need to look at poor judgment and hypocrisy’

EXCERPT:

CUOMO: “Joining us now is one of 'The Washington Post' reporters who broke the story on Congressman Joe Barton, Mike DeBonis. Happy Thanksgiving. Thank you for checking in on a day as special as today."
DeBONIS: "Hey, thanks Chris. Thanks for having me."
CUOMO: "All right. You’ve been here at the show this morning or pretend you have even if you haven't. Stories like this are all about perspective. Do you believe that Barton belongs even in the same sentence with what’s going on with Franken, Moore, Conyers?”
DeBONIS: “You know, this is absolutely a different sort of scenario from those. I think that lumping them together doesn’t do anyone any good. I think that, you know, this is more of an example of where you need to look at, poor judgment and hypocrisy rather than [indecipherable] of the type that's been alleged in other scenarios, and I think that that’s, well you know, the women that we’ve reached out to, that we’ve talked consider it as such. And you know, there’s no suggestion that we found that he was abusive, you know, or did anything that can be grouped in as harassment. This is more somebody who was secretly trolling on the Internet for women during a time which — during which he was still married.”
