Benson: Congressional ‘Slush Fund’ to Pay Accusers Is the Swampiest, Most DC Thing Ever

‘We all went around the couch and of course said this should be public’

EXCERPT:

BENSON: "Back to the point about this racket on Capitol Hill, $17 million paid out in secret over 20 years, some of which was rooted in misconduct by elected members of Congress, it is pathetic. We all went around the couch and of course said this should be public, we should know who it is, transparency, the money paid out and why. The fact that is not already the case is pitiful and ridiculous. It is the most swampy D.C. thing I have ever heard of where you can be an elected member of Congress misbehaving badly enough that there is some slush fund paying people off to make the problem go away and you never get named, your actions never come to light and the dollars just flow out and we don’t know as taxpayers — it is mindboggling to me that that bill Representative DeSantis is introducing isn’t already the law of the land."
