Sachs: ‘Absolutely’ GOP Tax Cut Is a ‘Big, Beautiful, Huge Christmas Gift’ for the Trump Family

‘It’s not only worthless for most people in this country, it’s actually a huge burden on them’

EXCERPT:

BRZEZINSKI: "President Trump promising this week a big gift for Christmas in the form of tax cuts. But a growing amount of analysis is showing that the plans currently on the table will push this country’s debt even higher. Joining us now is Columbia University professor and director of the Center for Sustainable Development economist Dr. Jeffrey Sachs. I think it’s a big, beautiful, huge Christmas gift. But for who, Dr. Sachs?"
SACHS: "For -- for the Trump family."
BRZEZINSKI: "Really?"
SACHS: "Absolutely. Billions of dollars in ending the estate tax, in these gifts to the billionaires. It’s not only worthless for most people in this country, it’s actually a huge burden on them. Because it’s going to raise the debt phenomenally. So it’s going to mean future cuts of Medicare, it's going to mean future cuts of basic services in this country. And there are already saying that it’s going to automatically trigger Medicare cuts just after this starts. It’s -- it's the most outrageous policy we've seen in budget policy in -- I can’t even remember a comparable deal."
