Charlie Sykes on Roy Moore: We Are Seeing ‘Naked Political Cynicism’ from the White House

‘You have the president of the United States through Kellyanne Conway and through the Trump machine, basically saying that they are willing to overlook this charge… in order to get a vote for their tax bill’

EXCERPT:

SYKES: "That ad is an extraordinary moment. It is an extraordinary political moment in an extraordinary year. And it really ought to make people think twice. But it’s also extraordinary and we shouldn’t lose sight of this, that actually now you have the White House, the president of the United States through Kellyanne Conway and through the -- the Trump machine, basically saying that -- that they are willing to overlook this charge of, you know, of sexual assault of a child in order to get a vote for their tax bill in the Senate. I mean, this is the kind of naked political cynicism that's been around there for a long time. But -- but the mask is really off. And that's also an extraordinary moment."
