During a discussion about whether NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell would retain his job following the Ray Rice fallout, Outnumbered male guest host David Webb said on Wednesday’s show that just as NFL players needed to stop hitting their wives and girlfriends, those wives and girlfriends needed to stop hitting their husbands. This went over poorly.

“There’s a lot of good guys in the NFL, most of them don’t go out and beat their wives,” Webb said. “And frankly, to the wives and girlfriends out there, don’t hit your husbands.”

“You gotta be careful with that line of thinking,” Kennedy warned him. “It’s dangerous. And it can be really insulting, especially to domestic abuse victims.”

“85% of the victims, according to the CDC, of domestic violence are women,” host Harris Faulkner told Webb. “So it’s not the same thing to compare men and women.”
