HOLTZ-EAKIN: "It’s a question of politics. The tax policy of getting another $340 billion to work with is clear and beneficial. The health policy implications will be tiny and to the extent that Alexander Murray moves forward after this, can be offset. The real issue is does it get you closer to 51 votes? And I presume that before this mandate was introduced they did some head counting in the Senate and it helped them on balance. Getting tax reform done is always hard, it always contains elements like this, it always has several near death moments and we’ll see how this plays out."
