Michael Warren: Charges Against Manafort and Gates Suggest Mueller Has ‘Even Bigger Fish’ He Is Hoping to Catch

‘They are looking possibly to flip Paul Manafort or Rick Gates in some bigger case that has to do more directly with possible Russia collusion with trump associates or Trump campaign associates’

EXCERPT:

WARREN: "The first thing is that this indictment, these charges against Paul Manafort and Rick Gates suggest that Bob Mueller has even bigger fish that he is hoping to catch here. These read and sound like charges that the government has Manafort and Gates dead to rights on but they are looking possibly to flip Paul Manafort or Rick Gates in some bigger case that has to do more directly with possible Russia collusion with Trump associates or Trump campaign associates. So that is the first thing that sticks out. These don’t have a direct connection, these charges, with that case. I suppose it’s possible that Mueller is going scattershot here, but this doesn’t really jive with his reputation in Washington which is someone who is very much a straight shooter who is going to bring charges, very limited based on the facts that he has and the charge that he has. So I think this is the beginning of the story not necessarily the end of it."
