RISCH: "When we go — when we went out — first thing I would do is have the staff check and make sure they wanted us to attend the memorial service or funeral or whatever it was. Then you have to deal with the situation when you get there. It is the most difficult, the most sensitive thing that you have to do. We did it and I think we did it very well. Obviously, the president has his own way of doing things and certainly, we don’t want to be fighting with gold star families by any stretch of the imagination."
