CNN Seems to Take Aim at Trump with ‘Facts First’ Advertisement

‘This is an apple, some people might try to tell you that it’s a banana’

CNN Seems to Take Aim at Trump With ‘Facts First’ Advertisement (Mediaite)

After months of President Donald Trump referring to CNN as “fake news,” the cable network punched back in a clever ad that could be seen as taking aim at the current administration.

In a CNN video advertisement, titled “Facts First,” an apple is shown in front of a all white backdrop. A voice narrating the clip then says, “This is an apple. Some people might try to tell you that it’s a banana. They might scream, ‘banana, banana, banana,’ over and over and over again. They might put BANANA in all caps. You might even start to believe that this is a banana. But it’s not. This is an apple.”

The idea behind the video seems to be a dig at Trump and his administration’s on-going “alternative facts” and “fake news” talking points, as they often suggest outlets are lying in their reporting or are presenting a misleading set of facts.
