Goodell: We Met with the NYPD to Discuss How to Expand the Relationship Between Players and Police

‘The relationship between players and our communities and our law enforcement is very important to us’

EXCERPT:

GOODELL: "Lastly we had a special visitor today. We had the commissioner of NYPD Jimmy O’Neill and his chief of police Terry Monahan. I specifically had conversations with them for several months so this has been quite a while in the making to try to understand how we can continue to expand relationships between our clubs, our players, our communities, and the NFL. And he was very helpful in giving us insight into what their initiatives are here with the NYPD, the initiatives that are going on in other parts of the country which I saw first-hand down in Miami as an example last week and saw in Philadelphia recently. The relationship between players and our communities and our law enforcement is very important to us. So that was very helpful."
