CNN said Thursday that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is “the real deal,” with 1,000 Russian troops in Ukraine’s southern area and around 2,000 throughout the country.

“These are regular Russian forces. No separatists, no rebels,” said CNN’s Barbara Starr. “This is the real deal. Russian troops with Russian weapons.”

Starr added that Russia has brought long-range anti-air equipment into Ukraine.

Satellite imagery from NATO appears to prove the presence of Russian troops in an area where Ukraine’s military does not operate.
