Jake Sherman: If Trump Continues to Anger and Browbeat Republicans His Tax Plan Won’t Get Through

‘There is really narrow political road to travel here and we’ll see if the president can do it’

EXCERPT:

SHERMAN: "Listen, there is no — let’s be clear here. If the President plays his cards right on Capitol Hill and gets a tax plan that Republicans could rally on and that does not drastically cut taxes for the upper income Americans, millionaires and higher, he could get some Democrats to rally around him. At the end of the day, in an election year or close to an election year, if you say this is a tax bill that will cut taxes for a lot of Americans, it will be difficult if it doesn’t lower taxes for rich people. It is difficult to vote against it. Either you’re for tax cuts or you're not. That’s what Republicans up here think the dynamics will be if the President plays his cards right. If he continues to anger and to browbeat Republican senators and members of the House, this isn’t even a discussion worth having because it won’t get through."
