Wendy Sherman: Trump ‘Doesn’t Have the Basic Knowledge’ Needed to Protect the Security of the USA

SHERMAN: "Well, Stephanie, I think there’s a long history with President Trump about his lack of knowledge about nuclear weapons. We saw it all throughout the campaign, he's talking about, well, of North Korea is a threat maybe Japan and South Korea ought to get nuclear weapons, too, which of course, would increase the proliferation risk, would increase the risk of war and not decrease it. It would cause tremendous problems in the region and our relationship with China and with others. So we saw him again and again talk about how we maybe should just use nuclear weapons, again, without understanding the catastrophic consequences of such actions. So whether or not the president wants to own up to what was said at the Pentagon in July, this is a very, very disturbing story because it shows that the president doesn’t have the basic knowledge you need to protect the security of the United States of America."
