Van Jones: Energy Companies ‘Subsidized’ Because Their CO2 Emissions Aren’t Taxed

‘What you do is go in and demonize one set of workers against the other, and that’s not the way to do it’

EXCERPT:

JONES: "You know what's a subsidy? When you get to pollute for free. Right now, if you're coal, if you're oil, you get to dump megatons of carbon in the atmosphere and you don't pay a penny. That's a subsidy. If you're big oil, the Pentagon makes sure you're for-profit product gets here from that Middle East. That's a subsidy. Every form of energy in the world is subsidized. The question is, do you want to subsidize the ones that will give you more jobs or more pollution? I think we have to come back to the table. This used to be bipartisan. That's the point of my book."
