Thiessen: Hillary’s Done the Exact Opposite of Putting Politics Aside with Gun Control Comments

‘Irony for the Democrats is Trump united us, Hillary Clinton divided us’

EXCERPT:

HEMMER: "Marc Thiessen, a columnist for the 'Washington Post' and fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, Fox News contributor. Marc, good morning to you and --"
THIESSEN: "Good morning, Bill."
HEMMER: "-- thanks for your time. You know, Senator Murphy's been at the forefront of this issue for -- for several years now. But Hillary Clinton sent out the following tweets when we're just still learning about everything that's going down. Here is what she said, 'The crowd fled at the sound of gunshots. Imagine the deaths if the shooter had a silencer, which the NRA wants to make easier to get.' She continued, Our grief isn't enough. We can and must put politics aside, stand up to the NRA, and work together to try to stop this from happening again.' Now how do you see that as you write this piece today in the 'Washington Post' called, 'Who's playing politics now?' Make your case."
THIESSEN: "Well what Hillary Clinton did is the exact opposite of putting politics aside. I mean, if you want to see how outrageous this is, imagine for a moment that on Monday, after the shooting, Donald Trump had come out and delivered a statement. And after praising the police for running into the gunfire and saving lives, he then turned around and said, and for all of you people who have been taking a knee to protest the police, shame on you. These people deserve our respect every single day. And now you need them. And your praising them. But the other day you were criticizing them. People would -- heads would have exploded. And rightly so, people would have said, 'Mr. President, there are still bodies in he street. How dare you politicize this issue? You are supposed to unite us, not divide it. Well now, it turns out that all these people who have been constantly criticizing Donald Trump for responding inappropriately to crisis, for saying that he's dividing us, they’re the ones responding like partisan political hacks, and they're the ones who are dividing us."
HEMMER: "Well as that mentioned."
THIESSEN: "The irony for the Democrats is Trump united us, Hillary Clinton divided us."
