State Dept. Won’t Support Netanyahu’s Claim that Hamas and ISIL Are the Same

‘I think by definition, they are two different groups. They have different leadership, and I’m not going to compare them in that way’

Harf Refuses to Support Netanyahu’s Claim that Hamas and ISIL are One and the Same (Washington Free Beacon)

State Department spokesperson Marie Harf refused to liken Hamas to ISIL, following Prime Minister Netanyahu’s declaration that “Hamas is ISIS, ISIS is Hamas.”

The testy exchange occurred during Wednesday’s State Department briefing. A reporter asked Harf, “Prime Minister Netanyahu…said that Hamas and ISIL were one and the same. Do you agree with that premise?”

“I think by definition they are two different groups. They have different leadership, and I’m not going to compare them in that way… I’ll let him (Prime Minister Netanyahu) speak for himself, but I’m not going to use that comparison.” Harf retorted.
