Paul Ryan to Lawmakers: ‘Don’t Capitalize’ on Ferguson (Mediaite)

Representative Paul Ryan (R-WI) appeared onFox & Friends Tuesday morning and told the troika that lawmakers needed to resist the temptation to exploit the events in Ferguson for their own gain.

“Don’t try to capitalize on this tragedy with your own policy initiatives,” Ryan said. “Don’t try to link some prejudged conclusion on what’s happening on the ground right now.”

“Really, I think we should take a deep breath, let’s have sympathy for the family and the community and let’s not prejudge anything and let’s let the investigation take its course and hope justice is served appropriately,” he continued. “But what I don’t want to do as a political leader is graft my policy initiatives or my preferences onto this tragedy. That would be disrespectful.”
