CNN: We Appreciated Obama’s ‘Strong Embrace of Reporters’ Rights’

‘He used the phrase “no bullying of journalists.” That’s totally inappropriate right here in the United States of America’

TOOBIN: “He has to, of course, walk a difficult line here. He can’t be seem to be endorsing looting or breaking of the law, but he’s also got to recognize, and he did recognize, that police misconduct is unacceptable. There is a deep question about whether this was an appropriate use of force in the first place that caused Michael Brown his life. I just think, the most striking thing he said was his really strong embrace of reporters’ rights to do their job. Most of what he said would fall into the category of boiler play, things presidents have to say in circumstances like this, but he did go out of his way to express his concern about the arrest of the Washington Post and Huffington Post reporters yesterday. And as journalists, I think we can certainly appreciate that, as citizens as well.”
BLITZER: “He used the phrase, ‘No bullying of journalists.’ That’s totally inappropriate right here in the United States of America.”
