Fox News’ Lisa Boothe Rips Trump: This Wasn’t The Art of the Deal, It Was The Art of the Giveaway (Mediaite)

There was a fiery debate on The Five over President Trump‘s deal he made with the Democrats yesterday.

Jesse Watters thought Hurricane Harvey gave Trump a “lifeline” after a terrible summer with the GOP botching the Obamacare repeal and the fallout of Charlottesville.

“He recognized the spirit of unity that came out of Texas,” Watters elaborated, “and he seized on it and he capitalized on it. And he is a dealmaker.”

He then accused the GOP of “always caving” in debt ceiling fights and that Trump “just did it early” and was taking the hit.

Dana Perino pushed back, saying had Speaker Paul Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell taken the same deal, Trump supporters would have been outraged.

“If they had done this, you guys would have gone crazy against them,” Perino told Watters.

Lisa Boothe called the deal a “shot across the bow” to McConnell and Ryan because of Trump’s frustrations with them.

“To be fair, this was not a deal,” Boothe said. “This was not The Art of the Deal, this was The Art of the Giveaway.”

She added that after he gave Democrats “everything they wanted,” Trump “added insult to injury” when he praised North Dakota Sen. Heidi Heitkamp, who is facing a tough reelection in 2018.
