Jefferson County Sheriff: The Rain Has Stopped, But Water Is Still Rising; the Danger Continues

‘Even with all the devastation, some areas, they’re unaware that just, you know, maybe less than 15 or 30 miles from them, people are already suffering severe flooding’

RUSH EXCERPT:

STEPHENS: "Well, one of the things we've been doing in the community that's in close proximity to the river and the low-lying areas, we've been going door to door still, trying to get people to leave their homes. A block away from the river, even though it hasn't crested yet, people are still there. They may not be experiencing high water yet but it's going to happen. So without causing a panic, we're encouraging people to monitor that and to get out of those areas. Even with all the devastation, some areas, they're unaware that just, you know, maybe less than 15 or 30 miles from them, people are already suffering severe flooding. So until the water gets to some of these neighborhoods, because they're unaware of it, believe it or not."
