CNN’s Sara Murray: ‘Timing’ of Pardon of Arpaio Is ‘Terrible’ for Trump

‘People are questioning what his view is of race relations in America’

RUSH EXCERPT:

MURRAY: "Well, it’s not clear why the president and sheriff Joe sort of got — developed this close relationship, but we know they did. We know they’ve talked. We know that sheriff Joe was kind of a staple with the president on the campaign trail. But, again, you point out this birther thing. The timing of this is just, frankly, terrible for president Trump. People are questioning what his view is of race relations in America, particularly in the wake of those comments in charlottesville, and we saw him, the president, when he was on stage in Phoenix, angry about the fact that anyone would suggest that he might be a racist, that anyone would suggest that he’s equivocaing white supremacists with counterprotesters. Well, he did do that. So if you’re a person in this country right now concerned about where our president stands on the issue of race relations, I don’t think watching this pardon is going to make you feel much better about the situation, John."
