ABC News reporter Jon Karl listed off Russian reactions to U.S. sanctions, including banning Western food imports and amassing troops on the Ukrainian border, and concluded that the sanctions do not seem to be working, contrary to what President Obama declared Wednesday.
“We are doing exactly what we should be doing,” the president announced during a press conference. “Sanctions are working the way they are supposed to be.”
As Karl noted, the presence of 20,000 armed Russian troops on the border has led NATO to believe an invasion may be imminent. Russia has banned most Western food imports and is now threatening to ban Western planes from using their airspace.
