Spanish police on Monday shot down a man who local media identified as the Islamist militant who drove a van into a Barcelona crowd last week, killing 13 people

EXCERPT:

BRADLEY: "That's -- that's right. The last suspect, the final fugitive of the dozen jihadis that the police have been looking for has been shot dead in a town outside of Barcelona. That's Younes Abouyaaqoub. He was the man who actually drove the truck on down Las Ramblas boulevard four days ago on Thursday and killed 13 people here. As you can see, it's now more or less back to normal. But he was a fugitive for the last four days. And here's more less what happened, Andrea. Younes Abouyaaqoub, the 22-year-old Moroccan, he drove the van down Las Ramlas four day ago crashed the car near the end, and then fled on foot for about 90 minutes through Barcelona. He was caught on CCTV, he hijacked a car and stab to death the driver. He then drove that car and was shot at -- by police officers at a check point. He parked the car outside of Barcelona and he's been hunted by police here for the last four days. There were thoughts that he might have actually crossed the border into France, but now it seems he was shot dead in a town called Subirats just west here of Barcelona. We got that confirmed just now in the last hour. Andrea?"
