Will: No Efforts to Deport Millions of Illegals, So What Is the W.H. Amnesty Plan?

‘I don’t know what they’re talking about’

Will’s Take: There Are No Efforts to Deport Millions of Illegals, So What Does the White House’s Amnesty Plan Amount To? (National Review Online)

The White House has said it may formally delay deporting up to 5 million people during the border crisis, but George Will argues this isn’t a meaningful step, since few such deportations occur.

Will noted on Special Report that 85 percent of the 12 million undocumented immigrants in the U.S. have resided in the country for at least five years and that 45 percent own homes. “They are within the fabric of our country,” he said.

Determining the status of people within U.S. borders is, according to Article I of the Constitution, a power belonging to Congress, Will said, but he expressed bewilderment at the idea that the White House is considering deferred-action status for millions of more illegal immigrants. “I don’t know what they’re talking about,” he said.
