Israeli Spokesman: The Official Charter of Hamas Is Aimed at Hatred of Jews

‘You only have to read the charter of Hamas to see good old-fashioned anti-Semitism’

REGEV: "Well, first of all, is that picture. And you are right, there is a lot of anti-Semitism there. I mean, you only have to read the charter of Hamas to see good old-fashioned anti-Semitism. I mean this conspiracy released, conspiracy theory stuff there about Jews that we thought it [indecipherable] this planet, and unfortunately, it's all there, black and white, in Hamas's official charter. And of course, a lot of Hamas's friends across the planet share those sort of racist, anti-Semitic views. I'd like to the point to the other side. We have seen Hamas today condemned internationally, condemned for its rocketing of Israeli cities, condemned for rejecting humanitarian ceasefires. And that's not just in the West. Even in the Arab world, Hamas is more [indecipherable] than ever before. You saw that piece I am sure two or three days ago in the New York Times. Even the Arab world today looks at Hamas and they blame Hamas for the misfortune, for the tragedy going on in Gaza. And the truth is, it's right to blame Hamas. This conflict was initiated by Hamas. This conflict could have ended more than two weeks ago when my government accepted an Egyptian proposed ceasefire, and Hamas said no to that. This tragedy is solely the responsibility of Hamas and people understand that. Most of all, I think the people in Gaza are beginning to understand that too."
