Barry McCaffrey: ‘Unprecedented’ for Trump To Be ‘Threatening a Nuclear Attack’ on N. Korea

McCAFFREY: “At face value sounds like he’s threatening a nuclear attack on North Korea which is unprecedented. Somebody earlier said it sounds like Kim Jong-un’s kind of threats which tend toward the comical. We have heard them for so H years. The basic rule of diplomacy is you don’t threaten people in public. If you do threaten them, you have to say something that you mean to follow through on. It’s a bad idea to try to have a confrontation of military nature over North Korea over these nukes. They’re not going to negotiate them away. We will have to find a way to hem them in, provide defensive measures and engage them.”
