Scarborough: There Aren’t Enough Taxes in the Top 1% or the Top 10% to Fund Medicare for All

‘Furthermore, there aren’t enough taxes out there to raise to actually keep Medicare going over the next 20-25 years’

EXCERPT:

SCARBOROUGH: "Regardless of what you think of the chairman of the Freedom Caucus and his political views, he’s exactly correct. There are not enough taxes to be levied against the top 1 percent or the top 10 percent that would fund Medicare for all. Furthermore, there aren’t enough taxes out there to raise to actually keep Medicare going over the next 20-25 years. We are in a deep hole of debt. And just saying, 'Hey, let’s just raise taxes more,' the numbers don’t add up. They just don’t add up. Ask the CBO. Ask — you can ask any debt committee. It’s a real problem. We’ve got congressman Tom Cole coming up. He’s had four town hall meetings this month set in Oklahoma. He will join us next. We will ask him what he thinks Donald Trump needs to do to get those numbers up and to get the Republican Party back on the right track."
