MARSH: "I think this is more about survival and a contingency plan than it is a campaign plan. The fact is Donald Trump is doubling down on his shrinking base in the face of this Russian investigation. He needs to keep every conservative on board. And it is Mike Pence that conservatives and right wing activists and donors believe is the true conservative and that's why they're appealing to him and that's why he is out there getting them. They need to keep them on board. And if for some reason Donald Trump doesn’t make it through this term, then Mike Pence is plan B. And in that scenario, it is Mike Pence, who like Gerald Ford who pardoned Nixon — Pence could do the same for Trump."
