Almost immediately after Anthony Scaramucci was named White House Communications Director, Twitter wondered who might portray him in the comedic manner that Melissa McCarthy played the part of former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer. Enter comedian Mario Cantone, who indeed strikes a remarkable resemblance — and Italian-American heritage — as the Mooch.

Cantone introduced his “Mooch” impersonation last night on Comedy Central’s The President Show, and appeared on CNN’s New Day this morning, ostensibly to promote his new role on that show. But according to Cantone, there may be more behind his motivation to wake up so early for this television hit, like co-host Chris Cuomo‘s alleged beefcake status.
