Earnest: Trump’s Policy Decision ‘Not Going in the Direction of Getting Tough on Russia’

‘We know that the Trump Administration is openly considering returning the diplomatic facilities that were closed by the Obama Administration’

EXCERPT:

EARNEST: “David’s newspaper reported at the end of last week that Trump Administration made a policy decision to withdraw support that they have previously been providing to Syrian rebels who are fighting the Assad regime, something the Putin regime sought for a long time. The United States and Russia are coordinating on a cease-fire in some regions of Syria, something that Putin has sought for a long time. And we know that the Trump Administration is openly considering returning the diplomatic facilities that were closed by the Obama Administration. These are facilities that were — they’re described as diplomatic facilities, but they were closed because we know the Russians used these facilities on American soil to spy on Americans. So this is the thing that is difficult to explain away. These policy decisions are not going in the direction of getting tough on Russia.”
