Stirewalt: Republicans Are Admitting that Ideology Is Less Important than Victory

‘They are saying again, ideology is less important, we just need a win it’

EXCERPT:

STIREWALT: "And now on this legislation, they are saying again, ‘Ideology is less important than victory, we just need a win. It doesn't matter what it looks like, we just need a win. Who cares what's in it? Just vote for it and pass it, so that we can get onto other things.’ And in a big way, that is a repudiation of not only long held conservative views but also these millions of people, these millions of human beings who say, 'How can you at this moment, after seven years of promising to repeal and replace this law, walk up and say we are just going to kick this thing, we are just going to knock it down, we are not going to do anything about it?' That is an abrogation of responsibility by Republicans, and there is a lot of senators who are not willing to do that."
