Fox’s Bob Beckel Addresses Controversy over ‘Chinamen’ Comment (Mediaite)

Fox News’ Bob Beckel addressed his “Chinamen” comment on The Five today, apologizing to anyone who was offended by him using that word, but strongly refusing to apologize for his broader critique of the Chinese government.

Last week, Beckel went off on how China is the biggest threat to U.S. national security and ended up using the word “Chinamen.” That statement apparently caused a large gasp at the Huffington Post and inspired one congressional candidate to call on Beckel to step down from Fox.

In his comments today, Beckel said, “I do not apologize for the things I’ve said about China.” He argued there are “too many China apologists in this country” and he’s going to continue to speak out against the government (although presumably more artfully in the future).
