Fox News: Steve Scalise Still Critical and Will Need More Surgeries

‘He remains in critical condition, but has improved in the last 24 hours’

EXCERPT:

McKELWAY: "And for the first time since Steve’s Scalise was hospitalized, as we've gotten our first tidbit, just a smidgen of good news and it comes in the form of a statement released by the hospital at 8:10 P.M. last night. It said, and I quote now, 'Earlier today Congressman Steve’s Scalise underwent a second surgery related to his internal injuries and a broken bone in his leg. He remains in critical condition, but has improved in the last 24 hours. The Congressman will require additional operations, and will be in the hospital for some time. At the request of the family, we will continue to provide periodic updates.' So that was over 12 hours ago and no updates from the hospital since then. But from our Capitol Hill producer Chad Pergram who has a lot of great sources who know Steve Scalise very well, he’s getting more frequent updates about the congressman’s condition from nonhospital sources. And he is telling us that, quote, 'Scalise appears to be doing slightly better, no official change in his condition yet.' Fox is told that doctors may give Scalise a day or so a rest after two rounds of surgeries, but they could go back in today. Fox is told additional surgeries would be to fix other things, that’s why they would wait a day. Now they are considering other things with Scalise like broken bones, indicates a minor improvement in his condition, but officially still critical."
