Flashback 2008: Obama Rips Bush For Katrina Flyover (Breitbart)

On February 7, 2008, then-Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) at campaign rally at Tulane University in New Orleans, LA blasted President George W. Bush for initially flying over the damage in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina instated of making a presidential stop at the site of the storm damage.

Calling the flyover a metaphor for Bush's failed leadership candidate Obama said, "People looked up at the roof tops for too long they saw an empty sky." 

Obama argued that the then-president's slow response to Hurricane Katrina had become a symbol of America's government letting abandoning it's citizens. 

"We can talk about what happened for a few days in 2005 and we should," Obama said. "We can talk about levees that could not hold ... about a president who only saw the people from the window of an airplane instead of down here on the ground, trying to provide comfort and aid."
