Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-OR) denied that donations to Democratic candidates from prosecutors investigating the Trump campaign showed any bias in an appearance on CNN on Tuesday.

Merkley argued against the notion that political donations should disqualify prosecutors from legal matters.

“What [Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s] doing is drawing on seasoned folks who have been at the Department of Justice or have served in the law firm that he knows and respects,” Merkley said.
