Gutierrez: Obama Not Visiting Border Like Not Visiting a Sick Relative While Vacationing

‘It is important to do that’

Gutierrez: Obama Not Visiting Border Is Like Not Visiting A Sick Relative While Vacationing Nearby (Washington Free Beacon)

Appearing on CNN’s Crossfire, Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D., Ill.) compared Obama’s decision not to visit the Texas border, where the illegal immigration of unaccompanied minors is creating a humanitarian crisis, while he visits elsewhere in the state, to ignoring a sick relative while vacationing nearby their hospital:

“I wish the President of the United States were going down and visiting the children and visiting the site tonight. I kind of think of, you know, if I were on vacation in Puerto Rico and my wife’s aunt was in the hospital and I didn’t go see her, I think her family would probably get together and probably say ‘You made a poor choice.’ It is important that he do that.”
