Fox News: Comey Opening Remarks Says Trump Said of Flynn ‘I Hope You Can Let This Go’

‘He talks about the fact that he decided on his own to let President Trump know that he wasn’t the target of the investigation’

EXCERPT:

FRANCIS: "He gets to the Michael Flynn part, I'm looking at the bottom of page four, and he says that the President began by saying, 'I want to talk about Michael Flynn.' Then he goes in and he quotes him, he says, 'I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go, to letting Flynn go. He is a good guy. I hope you can let this go.' That's what he says. 'I replied only that he is a good guy In fact, I had positive experience dealing with Mike Flynn when he was a colleague, director of intelligence at the beginning. I did not say I would let it go.' The President returned briefly to the topic of leaks, he says he went outside and started making the memo afterwards. Another thing I notice before we got to that point in the document, so I think it’s around page two, he talks about the fact that when they sat down at dinner, President Trump said to him 'Have you thought about whether or not you want to keep your job?' And he replied, I'm summarizing here, 'We’d already talked about this, I already said it, so I thought of this as a way of him opening up the line of patronage.' I think that's the word he uses in here. There is a lot in this document."
