Schmidt: The Biggest Problem of Getting Rid of Sessions Is Finding Someone Who Can Replace Him

‘If he wanted to get rid of Sessions, maybe the biggest problem would be just finding someone to take the job’

EXCERPT:

SCHMIDT: “He believes that the recusal put them on the path to where they are today with this special council. The question is could the President survive firing the attorney general. Every turn in this presidency — in a normal presidency you would say no, especially with such a politically sensitive investigation going on. Even though Sessions is recused from it, the appearance of it I think would just be terrible. As we’ve seen, the President can survive an enormous amount of things. If he wanted to get rid of Sessions, maybe the biggest problem would be just finding someone to take the job.”
