Gergen on Trump Quitting Paris Accord: ‘One of the Most Shameful Acts in Our History’

GERGEN: "Well, look, I think some 70 years ago, this country came to the aid of many others, especially in Europe, with a marshal plan and we saw that as one of the noblest acts in history, which it was. And tonight, there is a sense that we have witnessed one of the most shameful acts in our history. We do have 4% of the world's population but we contribute more to the carbon dioxide than any other nation, and for us to say we take no responsibility, we are going to go on our own -- that is selfish. And to realize, the countries that will be worst hit by climate change are the poor countries. We are the richest country. For us to walk away and say we don't give a damn about the poor countries, even though we created a lot of this -- that is immoral."
