John Dean: Trump’s Behavior ‘Part of a Pattern’ to Block FBI Investigation (Mediaite)

Legendary Watergate figure John Dean appeared on CNN Tonight with Don Lemon to discuss President Trump‘s ongoing legal troubles surrounding Michael Flynn, the intelligence community and Russia.

Lemon asked Dean, former White House Counsel to President Richard M. Nixon, whether he thought Trump’s behavior fit a pattern of intent to obstruct. Dean answered in the affirmative. He said:

“I think it’s a clear pattern. Even when he’s sharing his private thinking with Lester Holt and saying, well, I didn’t think this was a legitimate investigation. Therefore, I thought it was appropriate to fire this guy who was causing me all these problems–said in another conversation with the Russians that indeed he was relieved now that he had fired Comey because that took the investigation off of him. It’s just a steady pattern of he wants to block an investigation. And as president, regardless of his motive, he doesn’t have the right to block the FBI investigation.”
