Gen. Hayden: Brennan’s Testimony Gave ‘Legitimacy’ to Russian Collusion Investigation

‘We have massive evidence of Russian intervention in the election’

Gen. Michael Hayden: Brennan’s Testimony Gave ‘Legitimacy’ to Russian Collusion Investigation (Mediaite)

During testimony before the House Intelligence Committee, former CIA Director John Brennan revealed that he had seen intelligence indicating “interactions” between operatives of the Russian government and members of Donald Trump‘s 2016 presidential campaign. Some immediately saw this as evidence suggesting good reason to continue an on-going investigation into the Trump campaign while others saw the testimony as a way to exonerate Trump and his campaign.

Enter General Michael Hayden, who was the Director of the NSA under the George W. Bush administration, and was a featured panelist on this discussion on CNN’s New Day. Hayden has often criticized President Obama, and having served under Bush, cannot reasonably be labeled a partisan critic of the Trump administration. So his words and analysis on this particular story carry more weight than your typical talking head.

So what was his take? Simply put, Hayden believes that Brennan’s comments gives legitimacy to the ongoing investigation, or as President Trump has dismissed it as the “single greatest witch hunt of a politician in American history.”
