CNN’s Labott: Trump’s Visit to the Wailing Wall Sparks Some Controversy

‘The Israelis wanted Prime Minister Netanyahu to go with him and they said no, we’d like him to go alone’

EXCERPT:

LABOTT: "But there was a little bit of controversy surrounding this because, a, the Israelis wanted Prime Minister Netanyahu to go with him and the United States said no, the White House said, 'No, we’d like him to go alone.' That feeds into the whole controversy about whether the U.S. considers the Western Wall, which is one of the holiest sites in Jerusalem to be part of Israel. There was a lot of back and forth from the administration about whether it considered it part of Jerusalem, part of Israel. I think this is what is, you know, clouding this whole visit about what the administration’s position is on Jerusalem. This feeds into the whole idea of moving the embassy. It’s a very delicate subject. The U.S. and Israel have to have very sensitive conversations, but I don't think the President is ready to have that level of specificity in the conversation yet.”
