Chris Rock hosted the BET Awards Sunday night, or as he called it the “black World Cup,” and during his opening monologue he reviewed the biggest moments in black entertainment culture over the last year. There were jokes about Apple acquiring Dr. Dre’s Beats company, Kevin Hart’s prolific film career and Scandal’s secret appeal to white people. But the biggest black news of the year, according to Rock, were the revelations about racist L.A. Clippers owner Donald Sterling.

“Now let me get this straight,” Rock said towards to end of his opening bit. “An 83-year-old white man doesn’t like black people. Is that news?”
