BERMAN: "Is this Democratic sour grapes over the fact that, among other things, then Senator Joe Lieberman endorsed John McCain against Barack Obama?"
KEATING: "I can’t speak for everyone. I don't think so. I really think we’re in a deepening crisis here in Washington and around the country on this issue. And I honestly believe there is a lot of members that are putting the country first. And this could be an indication where we’re saying, 'Look, let’s get politics de-emphasized at least here in such an important role and let’s go in that direction. I would rather see the appointment go in that direction, frankly."
